It's Official - Jimmy Fallon is the New Late Night Host

jimmy fallon is the new late night hostIt's made official, Jimmy Fallon will be the new late night host replacing Conan O'Brien.

So, let me go on record to say, I told two close friends of mine about this about a month ago and they didn't believe me. I said that Jimmy Fallon was taking over for Conan O'Brien and that Conan was taking over for Jay Leno. Of course, they never believe me but that's just fine. I like saying "I told you so!" And yes, I called them and left messages for them in a professional manner stating "ha ha, I told you so... again!"

Honestly, I don't think Jimmy Fallon will do a good job replacing Conan O'Brien but that's just my personal opinion. He's funny, at times, but for the most part, he's a little corny.

Luckily he has writers, huh?

But even with writers, you have to ad lib quite a lot and I know he's coming from a Saturday Night Live background, but he didn't do too much on there either. But we should give him a chance, at least. I just wanted to go on record to say that I don't think he's going to be a good replacement.

Now, what's happening with Jay Leno?

Well, I'm hearing a few different things. I heard that he announced his retirement sometime back in like 2004 or something so when his contract runs out, he was simply going to retire. On the other hand, I heard he wanted to stay but decisions have already been made. But Leno is talented enough that I'm sure it won't be hard for him to get a new job; whatever it will be.

Now, Conan O'Brien, I think he's pretty funny but I'm not sure if I want to see him replace Leno. That's just my personal opinion. But maybe I was just used to Leno and all the stuff he has on his show? Will that change? Probably. But I hope they don't get rid of a lot of things that's currently on the show.

Oh, and what about Kevin Eubanks and the Tonight Show band? Are they going to still be there? Or are they out of a job too? Is Conan taking his band with him? I would assume so. But I guess nothing is official official until 2009.

So, we'll have to wait until then!

"Speed Racer" Crashed in the Box Office - We Told You So!

speed racer flops in the box office
I'll say this before and I'll say it again, "Speed Racer" just wasn't going to do good. And I could've told you this the minute I saw the previews, whenever that was. But the final numbers are in at the box office, and "Speed Racer" actually dropped down to third place finish behind "What Happens in Vegas!" Like I said in the title, "We Told You So!"

I know that seems pretty childish but we went on record a few posts ago stating that we wouldn't be surprised if "What Happens in Vegas" actually overtook the second spot from "Speed Racer."

So, originally, "Speed Racer" was estimated at $20.2M for the opening weekend box office but as of Monday, the totals ended up being $18.6M which moved them down to a third place opening day weekend finish in the box office.

With those totals, The Wachowski brothers' movie came about $1.6M short of earlier studio estimates and definitely, and I mean, definitely came up really short of expectations; espcially with all he hype that the movie got.

What makes it worse, particularly for the studio, owned byTime Warner, is the fact that they spent their $120 million budget. And if I did my math correctly, that means someone has to come u with $100M or someone is going to be pissed!

Well, that's the entertainment business for you. You win some... but most of the time you don't live up to expectations!

Sexy Pole Position Ladies

sexy women of pole positionsI'm not going to lie to you, when I thought about "pole positions" and ladies, I didn't have race cars in mind. But then again, I never knew the terminology of it anyways.

But seriously, when someone first mentioned "pole positions" to me, I was thinking of a stripper pole with some sexy women doing some crazy positions.

Of course, I was wrong. And nope, I'm not going to get into the details on what it actually means but rather, you can enjoy some of these pictures below. (And yes, you can click on the pictures to see the full size)

Iron Man Iron's Out Competition in the Box Office - I Told You!

I told you, I mentioned this before but did I not predict Iron Man was going to be number 1 in the box office for the second straight week? Don't take my word for it, check my archives!

Iron Man didn't do as good as the week before, but movies usually don't the following week. Of course, there are certain exceptions, but rare. Iron Man still did pretty good, it managed to take in an estimated $50.5 million which was good enough to take the number 1 spot from new movies such as "Speed Racer" and "What Happens in Vegas."

"Speed Racer" managed to finish second with $20.2 million, followed by "What Happens in Vegas" with $20 million.

I didn't mention this on this blog but I predicted "Speed Racer" not doing that great. I mean, it managed to finish second, but these figures on an estimate and look at how close "What Happens in Vegas" is behind them. They may very well have a good shot at taking over the second spot.

But "Speed Racer" was pretty hyped up so it obviously didn't live up to expectations. I mean, I don't plan on seeing the movie or anything because it just looks to, um, not that good. And I'm sure people were disappointed with it, especially how it did in the box office.

"We were disappointed with the results over the weekend," said Dan Fellman, president of domestic distribution for Warner Bros.

Hey, I knew it, you knew it but apparently, no one bothered to mention it to the Warner Bros, huh?

I Challenge YOU in Texas Holdem Poker! - This is How You Play Poker

texas holdem pokerI'm a huge fan of Texas Holdem Poker, just like the next guy. I feel it's like a game of chess for lawyers. You need to lie to convince others in a game of strategy. So, how do you play poker? Well, I'm only going to focus on Texas Holdem Poker and if you guys are ever up for a game, let me know! (Of course online poker isn't the same as playing in person).

How to play Texas Holdem Poker? Well, the rules are pretty simple, it's your game play that separates you from the losers and winners.

The rules:

The game starts off with a dealer, at least two players, a small and big blind, chips (or cash) and a 52-card deck.

1. Typically, we start off by dealing one card face up to determine who is going to start off as "the dealer." The person with the highest card will start.

2. Once the dealer is determined, the first person to the left of the dealer has to toss in a forced ante, or the "small blind." The second person to the left of the dealer then puts in a larger forced ante, or the "big blinds." The small and big blinds can be made up to any number. Though, generally the big blinds is twice the amount of the small (ex. $1/$2, $2/$4, $3/$6, etc).

3. After the small and big blinds are in, the dealer deals two cards face down to everyone at the table, starting with the person on his left.

4. Once everyone has their cards, the first person "to act" would be the person to the left of the big blinds. They would have the option of calling the bet (big blinds), raise it, or fold. Betting continues around the table, clockwise. If no one raises the big blinds, the person who put had the forced ante (big blinds) has the option to simply check.

Tip: Playing your position at the table is a very important part of the game. If you are the last person at the table "to act" then you want to bet so people don't get free hands.

5. After the betting is completed, three cards are dealt face up in the center of the table, which is also referred to as the "board." The first three cards that are dealt in Texas Holdem Poker is called "the flop." These cards are "community cards" in which everyone can use them in combination with their own cards to make the best hand.

6. From the flop on, betting begins with the person to the left of the dealer, who can check or bet. The dealer is the last to act, so again, play your positions carefully.

7. After betting is completed, a fourth card is dealt face up on the board which is called "the turn."

8. After another round of betting, the final card dealt face up is called "the river."

9. Once betting is finished, the remaining players show their cards to see who makes the best five cards. The person who makes the initial bet (or the last person to initiate the bet) is the first person who would turn over their cards.

Keep in mind: In some occasions in Texas Holdem Poker, the five cards on the board could possibly be the best hand. In which case the "pot" (the money from the betting) is split among the active players.

And that's how you play poker - particularly Texas Holdem Poker. If you ever want to play, let me know! Again, I rather play in person but online would be good enough.

Stay tuned as I'll be giving away some of my personal tips!
