R. Kelly Acquitted of Child Pornography Charges

Written by Jay on June 15, 2008 – -

r. kelly acquitted of child pornography chargesR&B Singer R. Kelly was acquitted of child pornography charges this past Friday which finally closes the book on this six-year investigation.

I’m sure all of you have heard about this – and if you haven’t, you really need to get out more – but R. Kelly was charged with 14 counts of child pornography charges and this ordeal lasted for years. Matter of fact, this all dated back to 2002. But on Friday, after the jury deliberated on the case for close to 8 hours, they found R. Kelly innocent on all 14 charges.

After reading quite a few articles, I’ve seen people use the comparison to the O.J. Simpson trial. Now, that definitely isn’t even on the same level but still people want to compare the two because a) both were big name celebrities b) both of them were found innocent and c) I’m sure the comparisons were there because of race.

Celtics Complete Biggest Comeback in NBA Finals History Down 24 to Beat Lakers

Written by Jay on June 13, 2008 – -

celtics championship runSimply amazing and this is why I love sports because you never know what will happen. It doesn’t happen too often but it does happen. Well, the Boston Celtics completed the greatest and biggest comeback in NBA Finals history last night when they were down as much as 24 points to defeat the Los Angeles Lakers 97-91.

I’m sure a lot of you guys watching the game was shocked; Celtics fan simply disappointed and Lakers fan getting cocky as they kept building the lead. I’m not going to lie, I had my head down a little bit but I continued to watch the entire game.

One of my friends told me he couldn’t take it and had to step away from the television for the second and third quarter until someone told him they were only down by 10.

Yes, things definitely got interesting in the fourth quarter as Lakers fan probably got as quiet as a mime trying to hide. I’m sure Bloggernoob was thinking the Lakers were going to win. :P

(Bloggernoob and I have a bet going… he’s cheering for the Lakers, and obviously you know who I’m going for – the next champions!)

paul pierce, ray allen and celtics biggest comeback in nba finalsPaul Pierce (the games MVP), Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen all had great games but I think it was the bench players that definitely pushed the comeback. You definitely have to give credit to James Posey and Eddie House especially going down the stretch. I mean, Eddie House made the basket that gave the Celtics the lead for the first time in the game in the fourth quarter.

So, what happened to the Lakers offense? Well, I think they got a little too comfortable with the lead that they didn’t go back to what kept the up by so many points. I mean, Lamar Odom was 7-7 in the field in the first half. He finished 8-11… so he only took 4 total shots in the second half? They should have given the ball to him more often.

Well, what’s done is done, it’s not officially over because we all know the Lakers are a good team and last night just shows anything can happen. But the Celtics just need to win one last game within three chances and they will not only be the team that completed the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history, but they will have added to the total (and most) championships by any team in the NBA.

Come on Celtics! One more game…

StumbleUpon Traffic Can Make Money Online

Written by Jay on June 12, 2008 – -

Written by Garry Conn

Time and time again people insist on trying to convince me that StumbleUpon traffic is useless traffic. While I’ll agree to some extent, it can be useless if you’re not properly taking advantage of the exposure. So here’s the deal. The common complaint about StumbleUpon traffic is that it doesn’t convert into money. Typically, bloggers will write something cool or interesting and have it submitted into StumbleUpon resulting in thousands and thousands of visits in a very clustered and quick time frame.

The problem that people face is that the content or the theme of the story being submitted into StumbleUpon isn’t something that generates sales, leads or even Google AdSense clicks. Many people feel like it is utterly useless traffic that does nothing but waste bandwidth. While I’ll agree with you on one side, I am also going to disagree on the other and here’s why.

Bloggin-Ads.com is giving away MacBooks and $1,000 Oh MY!

Written by Jay on June 12, 2008 – -

Mike of Bloggin-Ads.com who does blog reviews is holding a great contest in which includes MacBooks and cash.

Yup, not one MacBook but TWO! Is he crazy? Well, maybe. But you can obviously see his generosity, and there’s plenty of ways to enter. You can check out the details on his contest post.

If you do write a post to enter the contest, make sure you use the anchor text “blog reviews.” Just a heads up, if you write a review, you get the most entries in one swoop!

The funny part is I forgot that Mike was holding a contest and I visit his blog a few times a week cause it’s a good overall blog and very informative. But I was commenting like I normally do and just as easy as that, I was entered in the contest.

I know I have a very, very long shot to win a Macbook, I might as well win the lottery, but if I do, you don’t know how much I will praise Mike!

So what are you guys waiting for? The contest ends tomorrow, Friday the 13th!!!

Ken Griffey Jr Joins the 600 Homerun Club

Written by Jay on June 11, 2008 – -

ken griffey jr hits 600th homerunKen Griffey Jr, the man with the sweetest baseball swing in history, becomes the sixth player in history to reach the 600 homerun mark.

If you know me, you should know I’m a huge Ken Griffey Jr fan (I mean, there’s a reason why I added him to my header). And yes, like many others, I get a little disappointed by all the injuries he was faced with. On the other hand, he has always played the game the way it should be played, at 110 percent and simply to have fun.

Even with all those injury-plagued seasons, he’s still considered one of the greatest overall players (notice how I didn’t say ‘hitter’) to have played the game of baseball.

ken griffey jr homerun poseJust look at his career highlights and it speaks for itself. He has an American League MVP (1997) under his belt, he is 6th on the all-time homerun list (soon to be 5th, currently 9 homeruns behind Sammy Sosa), recently hit his 600th homerun and he has 10 Gold Glove awards for defensive excellence for 10 consecutive seasons. Not to mention he’s been to the all-star game 13 times as well as meaning named to the all-century team while he was with the Mariners.

This sure hall-of-famer might not become the all-time homerun king (I’m keeping my fingers crossed though), but at the same time, he won’t have an asterisk next to his name for being tied to controversies. Unlike Barry Bonds, who was said to have used steroids and is currently on trial, and Sammy Sosa, who was also tied to steroid usage and corked bats, Griffey was never linked to anything on those lines.

With all these accomplishments that he continues to add to his resume, there’s only one thing he’s missing – a World Series ring.

It’s unlikely he will get that with the Reds, but one can only hope, right? I know I will be cheering for him.

In my eyes, Ken Griffey Jr is the greatest player of all-time with the sweetest swing in history. He may not have lived up to the expectations from the media, but not many can achieve the accomplishments he has.
