2008 Home Run Derby Winner – Justin Morneau Stuns Josh Hamilton
Written by Jay on July 15, 2008 – -Photo credit: MLB.com
Despite hitting a record-setting 28 home runs in a single round, Josh Hamilton just didn’t have enough gas to beat out Justin Morneau for the 2008 Home Run Derby crown.
The Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton opened his first round of hitting by breaking the single round record with 28 home runs. Though, with all the excitement and hype, I think fatigue must have gotten to him in the final round as he only managed to hit 3 home runs to Justin Morneau’s 5.
Although, Morneau won the 2008 Home Run Derby, I’m pretty sure people will remember the 28 home runs in a single round more than they will for the actual winner. And it was pretty unfortunate that the record breaker couldn’t win.
Of course, you guys can remember the previous single round record was 24 that was set by Bobby Abreu. The difference between Abreu and Hamilton is the fact that Abreu went on to win the Home Run Derby title.
It’s funny how the Home Run Derby works, especially the fact that Josh Hamilton ended up hitting more total home runs in that first round than Justin Morneau did in all three rounds (eight in the first, nine in the second and five in the final round).
Hamilton dominated the competition in the first round. I mean, the other three who moved onto the next round – Morneau, Lance Berkman and Ryan Braun – hit a combined 23 first-round home runs. That’s what you call starting off with a bang!
Now, the first four that were eliminated – Dan Uggla, Grady Sizemore, Chase Utley, and Evan Longoria – combined for 20 home runs. Though, all of them had some pretty far shots, and a bunch was hittin the upper upper decks!
Well, either way, Morneau ended up with the title but Hamilton ended up with the record and a majority of the publicity.
Maybe next year!

Paula Patton is Just Breathtaking Beautiful! – Photos Included
Written by Jay on July 14, 2008 – -
Paula Patton is not as well known as she should be, but I’m sure you guys will get to know her a lot better! A lot of people know Paula Patton as R+B Singer Robin Thicke’s wife, but I know her as a breathtaking beauty who is an upcoming American actress.
I didn’t find this out until much later when she had bigger movie roles but her acting debut was a minor role in the 2005 film Hitch, starring Will Smith and Eva Mendes. If you guys can’t remember Paula Patton in the movie, she was the sexy woman in the club that Will Smith grabbed away from all the guys at the bar.
Yes, she was breathtaking and I never realized it was her until much later when I checked out Paula Patton’s biography which included her filmography.
She was also in such movies as Idlewild which was an Outkast musical, and she also co-starred alongside Denzel Washington in the 2006 movie Déjà vu. That movie introduced her into the mainstream. I mean, whenever you act alongside Denzel, you know you’re doing something right.
Paul Patton’s next role will be in an upcoming film title Mirrors where she’ll be acting alongside Kiefer Sutherland.
Oh, did I mention she’s married to singer Robin Thicke, who is the son of actor Alan Thicke. I’m not going to hate on Robin Thicke, he pulled himself a stunning beauty in Paula Patton.
I also read somewhere that there are comparisons stating Paula Patton may be the next Halle Berry. Well, the beauty and sexiness is definitely there!
Okay, enough with the rambling of her career, as always, you guys are probably here to check out all these pictures of the lovely Paula Patton. Again, if you didn’t know her before, you should get to know her now!
I’ll be adding more pictures of Paula Patton so I would suggest subscribing to my RSS Feeds so you’re updated regularly!

Brett Favre Needs to Make Up his Mind and Retire Already!
Written by Jay on July 12, 2008 – -
Brett Favre is a flip-flopper. He’s been saying he is going to retire every single year for the past few years, but then he keeps changing his mind. And it seems as though the Green Bay Packers are trying to move on without him, and they have every right to.
With all the flip-flopping and the Packers already headed towards a future without him, Favre has demanded a trade so he can play for another team.
Now, if you ask me, Brett Favre is the selfish one. He’s like the spoiled brat that always wants to get attention and his own way. I mean, he hyped up his retirement for the past few years and honestly, it’s getting pretty annoying.
Once he committed to his retirement after last season, he cried (even though he always seems to cry), EA sports decided to put him on the cover of Madden ’09, the Packers started building their franchise around their 2005 first-round pick in Aaron Rodgers and now he wants to get released so he can play for another team for yet another season?!
