WR Roy Williams Traded to Dallas Cowboys

Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys, pulled off another big trade in inquiring WR Roy Williams from the Detriot Lions. He took a gamble but after negotiations that involve several 2009 draft picks, including a first-rounder, they managed to get themselves another big and talented wide receiver.

As a Cowboys fan, I’m not fully impressed with the trade but then again, the Cowboys do need another big and reliable wideout, especially since every team is double-covering Terrell Owens.

Though, with Tony Romo out for the next few weeks with a broken pinkie finger, are we expecting backup QB Brad Johnson to get the ball to all these talented receivers? Well, let’s hope so! Especially get the ball to TE Jason Witten because I have him on my fantasy team!

Anyways, there were no details on how much Roy Williams is going to get paid but knowing Jerry Jones, he probably paid him large amounts. I would say somewhere in the $7 million a year range. And they also worked out a contract that keeps the wide receiver at Dallas for the next five years after this season.

We’ll see how this one goes.

Now I am from the opposite, I’m a Lions fan. And honestly I don’t like the trade, because Roy Williams was one of our best players, and he was the one who made Calvin Johnson good. Without Roy, Calvin will always be double teamed. The one upside is, Roy would have been a free agent next year, and he probably wouldn’t have stayed around, so I guess they made the right choice getting something from him. It’s just sad, because that means were in rebuild mode, which we’ve been in for the last 10 freakin years…
