Ken Griffey Jr and the Seattle Mariners Are Going to Have a Great Year!
Written by Jay on March 10, 2009 – -Yes, I’m a Ken Griffey Jr fan and yes I also like the Mariners. And quite frankly, I think the Mariners are definitely going to have a better year than they did last, especially since they have my boy Griffey back on the team!
I know he’s not the same “kid” as he once was but he brings much more than just hitting to the team, he also brings added motivation, determination and guidance to the younger players to get through the rough times.
I mean, they can’t get any worse than they did last year when they lost 100+ games. Their batting lineup seems to be better with a few additions that includes Griffey, their pitching has also been pretty decent (even though they lost key players such as their closer J.J. Putz) but I think they just struggled with runs last year.

My Favorite MLB Ken Griffey Jr is Being Traded to the Chicago White Sox
Written by Jay on July 31, 2008 – -
It looks like Ken Griffey Jrs’ days at Cincinnati are over. Apparently, Griffey is being traded to the Chicago White Sox pending the players decision.
Griffey is a 10-year veteran with at least five years playing for the same team so he holds the veto power over any potential deal involving himself.
But honestly, why wouldn’t Griffey go to Chicago? The White Sox are a contending team, matter of fact they’re in first place in their division right now.
The only downfall is the White Sox play in a hard division. But then again, so does the Reds and they haven’t had a winning season for a while.
There has been no word on who the Chicago White Sox are going to give up for this future hall-of-hamer player. Maybe it’s because Griffey has yet to agree to the trade.
As a huge Griffey fan, I want him to win a World Series. And honestly, I don’t think it will be with the Reds.
We will see what happens.

Griffey Throws Throat Slash Signal at Broadcaster Brantley
Written by Jay on July 31, 2008 – -If you know Ken Griffey Jr, you know he’s not the type to be surrounded by controversy. I mean, with all the speculations with steroids, corked bats, or anything slightly controversial, Griffey’s name is never mentioned… until now.
Apparently, on Saturday night after Griffey hit his 607’s career homerun, he crossed the plate and then did a throat slash signal.
Now, we all know that sign means “it’s over”, “you’re dead”, “I will kill you” or at least something on those lines. Well, this is very unusual for Griffey but that signal was aimed at Reds broadcaster Jeff Brantley.
Well, Brantley is probably one of the worst announcers but what makes it worse, he’s the announced for the team Griffey plays for. So, that just tells me he isn’t cheering for his team, he isn’t supporting his team, matter of fact, if you’re a Cincinnati Reds sports announcer within the teams organization, shouldn’t you stick up for your players?
Okay, so what did he say?
Griffey said “He said I’m pouting because the Reds haven’t picked up my option ($16 million) for next year. If I was that concerned about money I wouldn’t have come here in the first place.”
That is very true indeed; especially the fact Griffey took a lot less money to play for the Reds than his worth (at the time).
But Brantley claims he never said that and the subject wasn’t broached until they both sat down in the players dining room early Sunday. Brantley stated, “And I think he’s upset that I said something about the defense of the corner outfielders (Adam Dunn, Griffey).”
So, who’s wrong here?
Well, Brantley for still having a mullet. But I don’t think there’s any wrong here. I’m a Griffey fan and I’m glad he stuck up for himself.
We’ll see how this plays out.

Arrests Made After Minor League Benches-Clearing Brawl
Written by Jay on July 25, 2008 – -
Peoria pitcher Julio Castillo took a bench-clearing brawl to another level. A standard baseball brawl actually lead to an arrest and potentially a criminal offense.
The 20-year-old Dominican right-handed minor league pitcher was arrested on a felony charge Thursday night after he heightened the brawl incident by hitting a fan with a baseball in the first inning of the Chiefs and Dayton Dragons’ game.
I was looking for a video on this and couldn’t find it. But once I do, I will definitely be posting it on here so make sure you subscribe to my RSS Feeds so you don’t miss out. Or simply enter your e-mail address below.
Supposedly, right before the benches cleared, Castillo threw a fastball towards the opponents dugout and speculations has it that the ball bounced off and hit a fan in the crowd.
