Longest Baseball Game Ever Played

Written by Jay on October 7, 2009 – -

If you’re a baseball fan or not, we all know those games usually take a few hours to begin with. But what is the longest baseball game ever played? Well, this all depends on what you’re definition of the longest baseball game ever played… by innings? By hours? Extra innings or just a regular game? And so on and so on.

But the longest baseball game in 9 innings was a New York Yankees versus Boston Red Sox game back in 2006 when the game lasted 4 hours and 45 minutes.

The longest baseball game ever played based on hours and time was Chicago versus Milwaukee back in 1984 when the game lasted 8 hours and 6 minutes. That’s a full time job if you ask me! I’m glad I wasn’t at that game, I would have probably took a nap sometime in between that game.

That game lasted 25 innings by the way.

Anyways, that is based on major league baseball and does not include any minor league or amateur leagues.
