This episode brings to light some very important events that had taken place ten years ago. The Third Great Ninja War had taken place ten years ago. In that war, one of the important participants was Minato Namikaze, who was then the future Fourth Hokage. Along with Minato, Kakashi Hatake, Obito Uchicha and Rin had also taken part in that battle. Minato had ordered Kakashi, Rin and Obito to go and destroy the Kannabi Bridge. Before going for the mission, Kakashi shows his new Jutsu to everyone. But on closer inspection, Minato finds that the Jutsu is incomplete. In that very same night Minato informs Obito about Kakashi’s father. Minato also tells Obito that Kakashi’s father had committed suicide. The very next day Rin is kidnapped, after Minato leaves them. Kakashi refuses to help find Rin and so, Obito goes out alone, in order to find out where Rin is.
